Our Homes, Our Data, Our Rights
No matter where you are, you have the right to live free from surveillance.
Surveillance technology is spreading to every corner of America. Rural communities and small towns are growing targets for billion dollar technology companies who look to exploit our local budgets, track our movements, and turn our data into a product to sell.
We believe that privacy is a rural value. We love our open spaces and close communities, and our freedom to live as we choose.
This page aims to let rural communities share our toolkits, templates, and tactics we’re using to fight back against the creep of unchecked surveillance with one another. Together we will defend our rights to privacy and autonomy.
Take action to stop surveillance overreach in your community.
Find templates and materials you can use to obtain information about the surveillance technology used in your area, host an information session and discussion with your neighbors, and build community around our shared interests in privacy.
We’ve started with a toolkit to push back on Automated License Plate Reader surveillance. You can help us add to our library by sharing what anti-surveillance advocacy you’re working on in your rural community.
Join the national network of rural communities fighting back.
Find who in your area is organizing to preserve your right to privacy, or add your efforts to our growing map. Join the coalition, and help us show that no community is too small or too far outside city limits to push back.
