Atlas of Resistance

More communities are saying no to Flock cameras, license-plate readers, and facial-recognition surveillance. This map keeps track of them.

The Atlas of Surveillance shows you what's deployed in your area. The Atlas of Resistance shows you what people are doing about it. Some towns voted to cancel contracts. Others took their city to court. In a few places, neighbors filed public records requests, and what those records turned up was enough to change minds. In Skamania County, our sheriff looked at the numbers and pulled the plug.

Green pins are wins. Orange pins are active lawsuits. Blue pins are campaigns still in motion. Hover for the headline, click to read the story.

If your community isn't on here, get in touch. We want to know about it, whether you canceled a contract or you're just starting to organize neighbors. Privacy is a rural value, and small towns keep proving it.
